Local resident and Ventnor businessmen Ed Blake has been selected as the Conservative candidate for the forthcoming Ventnor and St Lawrence by-election.
Ed’s background is firmly embedded in the Ventnor community, with his family resident on the Island since 1830. Ed works as a commercial fisherman out of Ventnor within the family business. In his spare time, Ed plays rugby for Ventnor RFC and he was made Chairman of the club in 2017, and has overseen the merger with Ventnor FC and Ventnor YFC.
Ed Blake said “I believe that Ventnor and St Lawrence needs a councillor who has lived here for their whole life and understands the priorities of local people, and who can be a strong and effective voice on your behalf from day one. I would be honoured to represent this area on the Isle of Wight Council."
Warren Whyte, Conservative Association Chairman, said “I am delighted that Ed Blake has stepped forward to offer his local expertise and energy for the benefit of the wider community. He will be a great addition to the Isle of Wight Council.”
